Art Serve recently hosted a 12 x 12 Collective that brought 11 art organizations together for a show of works 12″ x 12″. It included paintings, photography, pastels, watercolor and jewelry. The show ran from March 4th through March 14th. I submitted one of my acrylic abstracts.
This past weekend I went to a seminar held at ArtServe. The subject was “Thriving as a Studio Professional”. Bruce Baker was the speaker and I found him to be informative and entertaining. If you are looking to make money with your art he has the tools you need to be successful. He has three CD’s you can purchase on his web site, 1. Your slides & the jury, 2. Booth design & merchandising, 3. Dynamic sales & customer service techniques.
Some of you may know that my Husband Doug shoots underwater video. His website is VideodudeProductions.com. Here is his promo video “What’s So Great About Diving in South Florida?” currently showing on YouTube. In addition to shooting his own projects, he is available for capturing memories of YOUR next dive adventure! Details are available on his website.
I was recently contacted by a person who claimed to have a client interested in purchasing one of my paintings. He implied that he was an art broker. We negotiated price and at first I was excited that someone from London would own one of my paintings. When we got to payment I became suspicious. He said his client would send a cashiers check for the painting, HIS fee and the shipping costs. The shipping was to be handled by the courier branch of his shipping company in the USA.
I did some research and found information on this scam. Here is a link to what I found. Click Here.
I recently signed up with ImageKind.com to sell prints of my paintings online. I started with a selection of three paintings but within the week I will have 4 more. Click here for my ImageKind.com store.
My husband and I attended the Opening Gala of the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival organized by the Women of Entre Nous. Entre Nous members promote the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival by serving as emissaries in the local community and at Festival events throughout the year. Their mission is to raise funds while having fun.
I donated an Acrylic Painting for their silent auction. It was an exciting event. My husband wore his kilt and we were surrounded by reporters the minute we walked in the door. After giving a few interviews ( my first on-camera interviews ) we entered the gala and to my surprise my painting was in a prominent place for the auction.
We mingled a bit and then had the opportunity to meet two of the stars of that evenings movie, “The Grand”. Both Richard Kind and Dennis Farina were nice enough to pose for pictures with us. It was a Grand evening.
